5 Reasons to go to the FIH Pro League

The FIH Pro League NZ Presented by Sentinel Homes is fast approaching. We have 5 reasons why you won’t want to miss this amazing sporting spectacle.

  1. For only 1 ticket you will get 2 epic international matches
Every one of the FIH Pro League games is going to be played as a double header. Hockey is one of the sports at the forefront of equality and we have ensured this continues by playing both the men’s and women’s games on the same day. To reinforce this gender balance we will be alternating which team plays first. This ensures that both our Vantage Black Sticks teams get the same opportunities and home support.

  2. The best hockey teams in the world are playing on OUR TURF in New Zealand

We have mentioned this a few times now, but the best teams in the world are going to be playing our Vantage Black Sticks in our country. Usually the only time these countries will touch down on our shores is if we host a major event like the World League or Champions Trophy. Now
, rather than waiting 10 years to get a visit, they will be coming every year for the next 4 years. You get the opportunity to watch the World Champion winning Netherlands Women and Belgium men as well as the reigning Olympic Champions in the women of Great Britain and Argentina men. Here are all the teams you’ll get to see right on OUR TURF:

    – Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Germany, Great Britain, Netherlands, Pakistan, Spain.

     – Argentina, Australia, Belgium, China, Germany, Great Britain, Netherlands, USA.

  3. There’ll be heaps of fun, games and giveaways at each game

We wanted to make sure that everyone who comes to an FIH Pro League game gets their money’s worth. When you arrive there will be some great goodies to help you support our Vantage Black Sticks! In our fan village we will have a fun zone for adults and kids to take part in a series of hockey related activities. We will have
Hungerball which is a fun introduction to hockey for kids of all ages, Kookaburra will be setting up a skills zone to help you sharpen your turf skills, Sentinel Homes will be returning with the popular Super Shot which works on your passing and flicking accuracy. Finally but quite importantly, Vantage - in collaboration with House of Travel - are giving fans the opportunity to win a trip to Hawaii with some halftime fun. Stay tuned for more information about this.

  4. An international Food Festival to enjoy during your afternoon or evening at the hockey in the summer sun

Yes, that’s right. Our fan village will have a range of delicious food to match the
visiting countries. Coming to watch the Netherlands play? Don’t be surprised if you see Dutch Fries. Watching the USA Women and Spain Men double header? Paella, Churros and hot dogs will definitely be on the menu. If you are going to the Great Britain game in Christchurch your Friday night meal could be Fish and Chips. If you fancy a beverage or two, Toi Toi Wines will have your sorted if that’s your thing, or there will be a great selection of beers for all the beer lovers out there.

  5. New Zealand battles Australia in an Anzac Day extravaganza

Anzac Day is a significant day for both Australia and New Zealand. Rugby League has an Anzac Day Test
and now we will be introducing an important FIH Pro League Anzac Day clash. To kick things off, the Men and Women NZ Defence Force Hockey teams will take on their Australia counterparts as a curtain raiser for our main eventthe Vantage Black Sticks Men and Women taking on Australia. Both sides will be looking for vengeance as it marks a rematch of the 2018 Commonwealth Games Gold Medal matches which saw the Australia Men and our Vantage Black Sticks Women take Gold.

Make sure you don’t miss out on your opportunity to see this amazing international hockey event - great entertainment for the whole family.
